Slow Food Solent is a local Slow Food group covering the Solent region of southern England. We have some great gourmet events planned to promote good, clean and fair food. That means food that is good for the people eating it, good for the people who grow it and good for the planet.Make sure you join the mailing list to find out what is going on.
Some examples of the type of events Slow Food Solent may host are: wine tastings at a local vineyard, a Slow Supper at a local eatery, a masterclass in preparing and cooking fish or a beekeeping demonstration!
The Solent area covers Hampshire, West Sussex, the Isle of Wight and surrounding areas, including a mix of environments: cities (Southampton, Portsmouth, Chichester and Winchester); ancient market towns (such as Romsey, Petersfield and Arundel); small villages (such as Titchfield, Wickham and Meonstoke); rural communities; beaches; forests; river valleys and fertile farmland.
The Solent area is home to many excellent growers, producers, restaurants, and food outlets, with an abundant availability of superb food, hence providing the ideal setting for an active local Slow Food group. The Solent group is always looking for new members. If you have a keeninterest in food: where it comes from; how it is produced; cooking it; talking about it; reading about it; learning about it and of course eating it, then Slow Food Solent is for you!
Further information about Slow Food and its ethos is provided here and also on the Slow Food UK website.
